    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Private First Class George W. Parker, Jr. (ASN: RA-15425784), United States Army, for heroic achievement on 30 July 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On that date, during an assault upon enemy positions, friendly forces by-passed an estimated platoon size enemy force and was subject to attack from the rear. Private Parker, an automatic rifleman, observed the enemy force as it was preparing to attack. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Private Parker exposed himself to the intense enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire to place effective fire upon the advancing enemy. As a result of his heroic action, the enemy was forced to withdraw with numerous casualties, thus enabling friendly forces to complete their mission. The heroism in action displayed by Private Parker reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class [then Private] George W. Parker, Jr. (ASN: RA-15425784), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company L, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 3 September 1951 in the vicinity of Mandeau-san, Korea. On that date Company L was in defensive positions on a strategic hill and was under constant attacks by a fanatical and determined hostile force. In an attempt to break-through the friendly perimeter, the enemy attacked in large numbers, but Private Parker, completely disregarding the intense hostile fire and his own safety, daringly exposed himself as he defended his position. Although his emplacement was the main point of the enemy’s attack, Private Parker steadily held them off, inflicting numerous casualties upon the onrushing foe. His heroic actions inspired the men about him to greater heights of daring and aided immeasurably to the success of his unit in this engagement. The gallantry in action displayed by Private Parker on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
