The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Frank J. Lackey (ASN: 1038309), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Battery B, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces. Private First Class Lackey served as cannoneer faithfully and courageously throughout the actions of the Marne, St. Mihiel and the Argonne and voluntarily carried ammunition by hand for over a mile over shell-swept roads, making two trips under heavy fire, during the action on the Marine, 15 July 1918.
