After his release from captivity, Edward Dickenson was charged with collaborating with the enemy during his captivity, and was subsequently courts martialed, discharged, and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. Due to the nature of his time as a Prisoner of War he would not be authorized the Prisoner of War Medal.
