(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS (Award Unverified): The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Major (Medical Corps) John E. Adams (ASN: 0-345350), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with the 2d Surgical Group aboard the Hospital Ship H.M.H.S. St. David in the harbor at Anzio, Italy, on 24 January 1944. His unquestionable valor in close combat is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
