Robert Laier is listed as “Missing in Action” as a Prisoner of War. The Air Force later reported, ” An unofficial enemy propaganda broadcast, 1 August 1951, from Peking Radio, China, was intercepted and indicated that subject had been taken captive — The unofficial broadcast from Radio Peking was probably true.” He was not among those returned at the wars end, and his remains have never been recovered.
