(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major (Coast Artillery Corps) William H. Owen, Jr. (ASN: 0-220618), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 91st Coast Artillery Regiment, Philippine Scouts, in action in the Philippine Islands in 1942. Major Owen’s gallant actions and selfless devotion to duty, without regard for his own safety, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
