The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Legion of Merit to Brigadier General William Wallace Momyer (ASN: 0-22862/FR-1964), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from 8 October 1955 to 25 July 1958 as Commander, 312th Fighter Bomber Wing and later as Commander, 832d Air Division. By complete dedication and untiring efforts, General Momyer overcame tremendous obstacles which previously confronted and drastically limited the capability of the tactical units at Cannon Air Force Base. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Momyer reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
