The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Colonel (Air Corps) William Wallace Momyer (ASN: 0-22862/FR-1964), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a P-40 Warhawk Fighter Airplane and as Commanding Officer of the 33d Fighter Group, TWELFTH Air Force, in aerial operations in North Africa on 29 March 1943. Colonel Momyer, while leading a formation of the pilots of his group, demonstrated outstanding gallantry in action. The courage and skill shown by this pilot reflects great credit upon himself and the armed services of the United States.
