John Russell was captured during the Korean War and interned as a Prisoner of War. He was forced to march to North Korea on the “Tiger Death March”, and died while a prisoner at the “Cornfield” near Manpo, North Korea on October 28, 1950. His remains were not recovered.

    Sergeant First Class John W. Russell (ASN: RA-06671053), United States Army, was held as a Prisoner of War after he was captured on 22 July 1950 during the Korean War and was held until his death in captivity on or about 28 October 1950.
