(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Silver Star to Colonel (Cavalry) Harry Albert Flint (ASN: 0-3377), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Cherbourg, France, in 1944. Colonel Flint was instrumental in the catpure of a German general and a German rear admiral after they were surrounded by an American unit. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Colonel Flint, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
