    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Bruce Albert Linsday (NSN: 0-98790), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism while participating in aerial flight while serving as Pilot of a carrier-based fighter aircraft on 6 November 1944. He seriously damaged two enemy cargo vessels with four accurately placed rocket hits, flying through intense anti-aircraft fire from the nearby shore of one of the Philippine Islands to press his attack to low level and accurate range. His courage and skill were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Bruce Albert Linsday (NSN: 0-98790), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary heroism in operations against the enemy while serving as Photographic Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Fighter Plane and Flight Leader in Fighting Squadron NINETEEN (VF-19) attached to the U.S.S. LEXINGTON (CV-16), while leading a division of carrier-based fighter planes on 25 October 1944. He participated in a strike against an enemy fleet which consisted of carriers, battleships, cruisers and destroyers. He led his division on a strafing attack through intense anti-aircraft fire to silence guns of a light cruiser. He then participated in a glide bombing attack on a battleship by dropping a 500 pound bomb. The battleship was left in a damaged condition. His courage and skill were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
