Headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, General Orders No. 150 (August 10, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Karl Everett Wolf (ASN: 0-26202), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of Company I, 3d Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Germany, on 27 February 1945.
When the tank in which he was riding was hit, Captain Wolf, although painfully wounded, dismounted and courageously led his company forward. Then, despite intense enemy cannon, automatic weapons, and small arms fire, he fearlessly directed a successful attack upon an important position. Captain Wolf’s gallant actions and exemplary leadership reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
