When intense hostile machine gun fire impeded his platoon’s advance, Sergeant Webb courageously proceeded to an exposed position, observed points of enemy resistance, and successfully deployed his men. His tactical skill, unhesitating action, and fearlessness under withering fire enabled his unit to seize its objective at great cost to the enemy. Technical Sergeant Webb’s gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
