The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Richard C. Snow (ASN: 31097378), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with a Medical Detachment of the 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa and Sicily, during the period from March through July 1943. Although subjected to heavy enemy artillery and machine gun fire, Private Snow assisted in the treatment of the wounded and their evacuation to a place of safety. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

Snow (ASN: 31097378), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa and Sicily, during the period from April through August 1943. During an engagement with the enemy, Private Snow, although seriously wounded by shell fragments, continued exposing himself to deadly artillery fire and administered first aid to members of his organization. His dauntless courage, initiative, and coolness under fire, inspired the men of his company to renewed efforts. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
