    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant Willie Oxendine (ASN: US-53948577), United States Army, for heroism involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Sergeant Oxendine distinguished himself by valorous actions on 25 November 1968 while serving as a Team Leader with Company A, 2d Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, on a reconnaissance in force mission in Long An Province. Sergeant Oxendine, exposing himself to fire, led an assault on enemy positions across 100 meters of open terrain. His actions were instrumental in routing the enemy. Sergeant Oxendine’s personal bravery and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 9th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
