The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Corporal] Kenneth J. Oug (ASN: 11013548), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, during World War II. On several occasions, Sergeant Oug led groups of litter bearers through heavy enemy fire and rendered first aid to the wounded. He continued, despite extreme fatigue, to lead these squads to insure the speedy and efficient evacuation of casualties.
