The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Sergeant First Class Frank J. Muscutt (ASN: RA-19382270), United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States while serving with Battery A, 3d Antiaircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion (Self Propelled), 3d Infantry Division, in action in Korea. On 7 June 1951, near Chik’tan, Korea, Lieutenant Pride discovered an M-19 antiaircraft gun carriage burning. The ammunition on the gun was exploding and all personnel had vacated the area. Without fear for his personal safety, Lieutenant Pride ran forward to the burning vehicle and attempted to extinguish the fire. Inspired by his example several men then came forward to assist, and as a result the fire was extinguished, thus relieving the potential threat to personnel and equipment in the area. The action of Lieutenant Pride on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
