Headquarters, 3d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 264 (July 9, 1951)

The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” (Posthumously) to Corporal Terry S. McCall (ASN: RA-14338770), United States Army, for heroic achievement during ground operations against a hostile force as a member of Company H, 2d Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 25 April 1951, near Taejon-ni, Korea, when Corporal McCall’s seventy five millimeter recoilless rifle platoon was attacked by a large enemy force, it received orders to withdraw to more tenable positions. Knowing the desperate need of the infantrymen for continued close-in support from the heavy weapons, Corporal McCall volunteered to remain in position and cover the withdrawal of a squad of infantrymen. Though the sight on his gun had been broken, and he himself was exposed to intense enemy fire, Corporal McCall continued to fire into the oncoming enemy at almost point blank range, which was instrumental in allowing the riflemen to reach more easily defended positions. Corporal McCall’s courage and heroic devotion to duty reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
