(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Specialist Fourth Class Ron Raccioppi (ASN: RA-12731352), United States Army, for heroic achievement during combat operations against an armed hostile force while serving with the 272d Military Police Company, in action on 29 October 1966, in the Republic of Vietnam. Specialist Fourth Class Raccioppi was in a jeep providing security for a convoy when intense fire came from six enemy positions along the sides of the road. The jeep moved toward the firing with Specialist Raccioppi standing in the back of it, firing all the way. For fifteen minutes he remained completely exposed to the enemy positions as he poured seven belts of ammunition into their midst. As a result of his constant fire the enemy withdrew leaving no casualties among the American forces.
