By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Lieutenant (Chaplain’s Corps) James Oliver Buswell, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 35th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Chaplain Buswell distinguished himself while serving as Chaplain with the 104th Infantry Regiment, 35th Division, American Expeditionary Forces. He spared no efforts to care for the wounded, between the front line and the dressing station of his regiment under heavy shell fire, and without regard to his personal safety.
