The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Private First Class] Anton J. Kamrowski, Jr. (ASN: 12019137), United States Army, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa and Sicily, during the period from March through July 1943. Although under continuous enemy small arms and mortar fire, Sergeant Kamrowski exhibited such outstanding qualities of courage and leadership in directing the combat activities of his men as to inspire them in the successful accomplishment of their missions. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
