Hume, Jr. (ASN: 35895462), United States Army, for meritorious achievement in action during ground operations against a hostile force while serving with Company K, 3d Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Normandy, France, on 31 July 1944.
