Headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, General Orders No. 33 (December 7, 1942)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Staff Sergeant George Isadore (ASN: 6686276), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Cannon Company, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Ferme Cantne, Algeria, 10 November 1942. During the Oran Offensive, Sergeant Isadore directed the fire of his self-propelled 105-mm. howitzer against an enemy strong point. The fire of his weapon contributed greatly to the eventual reduction of the strongpoint, allowing the rifle elements of the 2d Battalion to advance. While directing this fire, Sergeant Isadore was mortally wounded. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
