(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class Joseph V. Walmsley, United States Naval Reserve, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving as a Corpsman attached to the FOURTH Marine Division at Saipan and Tinian, 15 June to 10 July 1944 and on 24 July 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
