(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant (MC) Harold B. Thornburg (NSN: 0-110052), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity on 21 September 1944 while serving as Observer in a torpedo Plane over Halmahera, in the Netherlands, East Indies. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
