    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant (DC) William Leigh Strangman (NSN: 0-87237), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star (Army Award) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as a Medical Officer, Dental Corps, attached to the FOURTH Marine Regiment, in action at Corregidor during the defense of the Philippine Islands, on 6 May 1942. Lieutenant Strangman’s gallant actions and selfless devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
