(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Gunner’s Mate Third Class Gustav William Schill, Jr., United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as a member of the Armed Guard on board a United States merchant vessel during World War II. Gunner’s Mate Third Class Schill’s gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
