The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant, Junior Grade John Mott Robertson (NSN: 0-77570), United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism while participating in aerial flight, while serving as Pilot of an airplane in Patrol Squadron ONE HUNDRED ONE (VP-101), Patrol Wing TEN (Patwing-10), in action against enemy Japanese naval forces in the Makassar Strait, N.E.I., on 24 and 25 February 1942. Before he was shot down, Lieutenant, Junior Grade Robertson and his crew bombed and destroyed an enemy transport.
