The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Second Gold Star in addition to a previously awarded Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Fourth Award of the Legion of Merit to Rear Admiral Miles Hunter Hubbard (NSN: 0-61454), United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service as Assistant Chief of Naval Operations (Logistics) from August 1960 to June 1962. Exercising marked professional ability and resourcefulness, Rear Admiral Hubbard contributed immeasurably during this period to the effective logistical support and material readiness of the Operating Forces, Reserve Fleets, and Shore Establishment of the Navy. Through his broad operational and logistical background, his thorough understanding of management functions, his keen analytical mind, and his instinctively sound judgment, he provided the essential guidance and coordination of all aspects of the complicated logistical problems and programs within the Naval Establishment, as well as naval responsibilities in joint logistic matters. His wide experience and extensive knowledge and understanding in the field of weapons and weapon systems were strong contributing factors toward ensuring efficient and effective logistic support of the Operating Forces. Rear Admiral Hubbard’s leadership, professional competence, and unswerving devotion to duty reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
