The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Corporal Daniel B. Moore, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 9 April 1865, while serving with Company E, 11th Wisconsin Infantry, in action at Fort Blakely, Alabama. At the risk of his own life Corporal Moore saved the life of an officer who had been shot down and overpowered by superior numbers.
