The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Commander Thomas Henley Henry, United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity as Torpedo and Gunnery Officer and Torpedo Data Computer Operator of a United States Submarine during three war patrols in enemy infested waters during World War II. Skilled and tireless in the performance of duty, Commander Henry expertly supervised the activities of personnel under his command in the maintenance and operation of torpedoes and torpedo equipment and, by his ability and efficiency in operating the torpedo data computer, rendered invaluable assistance to the success of his ship in sinking or severely damaging three important Japanese combatant vessels.
