The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Commander Donald Kim Erskine, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer at Naval Special Warfare Unit TWO from January 1994 through June 1996. Following relocation, Commander Erskine quickly reestablished the command’s operational capability and theater credibility. In addition, through his unrelenting personal drive, he forwarded groundbreaking proposals for fundamental changes in the theater Naval Special Warfare command and control arrangements and assured their implementation. By his outstanding leadership, commendable innovation, and inspiring dedication to duty, Commander Erskine reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
