The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Pharmacist’s Mate First Class Lindo Elmer Agosti (NSN: 6021469/555931), United States Naval Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a Hospital Corpsman aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. INTREPID (CV-11), during the action on 25 November 1944. With utter disregard for his own personal safety, he administered first aid amidst smoke, fire, and exploding ammunition, and assisted in removal of casualties from the burning area to battle dressing stations for further treatments. His fearlessness, courage, utter disregard of his own safety, and devotion to duty were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
