The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Bronze Star Medal to Staff Sergeant Jeffrey P. Ackerman, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious service in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan, from 25 June 2008 to 25 June 2009. Staff Sergeant Ackerman’s personal courage and commitment to mission accomplishment in a combat zone, under the most extreme circumstances, greatly contributed to the success of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Staff Sergeant Ackerman’s performance reflects great credit upon himself, Task Force DUKE, Combined Joint Task Force-101 and the United States Central Command.
