The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant (Air Corps) Dennis H. Duncan (ASN: 0-810637), United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 27 November 1944. Lieutenant Duncan demonstrated exceptional navigational skill and leadership despite adverse weather conditions while leading a squadron on a bombing mission along the Roer River. Locating the objective through a rift in the overcast Lieutenant Duncan led his squadron on a successful bomb run beneath the clouds. Although harassed by intense anti-aircraft fire he nevertheless carried out a daring low level attack on an important enemy bridge which resulted in its complete destruction and by his distinctive leadership and devotion to duty Lieutenant Duncan was in large measure responsible for the removal of a vital enemy supply artery.
