The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Sergeant Rudy Sookbirsingh, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious achievement during the period 17 January 1991 to 2 March 1991, while serving with the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Division, deployed to Southwest Asia in combat operations associated with Operation DESERT STORM. Sergeant Sookbirsingh is commended for his role in liberating the Republic of Kuwait from their armed aggression. His service to the country exemplifies the highest traditions of the military and reflects great credit upon himself, the 1st Armored Division, and the United States Army.

The Secretary of the Army of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Commendation Medal to Sergeant Rudy Sookbirsingh, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious achievement as a military customs inspector with the 1st Armored Division’s Port Support Activity Battalion in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia from 24 April 1991 to 15 July 1991. Sergeant Sookbirsingh distinguished himself while working in conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture. His efforts contributed greatly to the smooth redeployment of VII Corps personnel and equipment to Germany by preventing the transportation of hazardous material and contraband. Sergeant Sookbirsingh’s efforts reduced significant delays in VII Corps redeployment and reflect great credit upon himself, the 1st Armored Division, and the United States Army.
