The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Jack Henry Harrison, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119k Navigator in Southeast Asia, on 28 January 1971. On that date, Major Harrison flew an armed reconnaissance mission against heavily defended supply routes being used by hostile forces. After locating several trucks, moving under the cover of darkness, Major Harrison’s aircraft made repeated attacks against the trucks despite very intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. Major Harrison’s superior airmanship resulted in twelve trucks being destroyed, three damaged, and seventeen secondary explosions. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Harrison reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
