The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Austin W. Low (ASN: 20703774), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 1st Ranger Battalion, on the early morning of 12 February 1943, in the vicinity 5 miles west of Sened Station, Tunisia. Corporal Low, assistant Browning Automatic Rifle operator, in the assault attack on an enemy position, came to the aid of his Browning Automatic Rifle operator who was wounded in action, carried him to cover, then manned the gun and continued the assault. The fire from his Automatic Rifle was directly responsible for clearing out a machine gun position and allowing the advance of our troops without loss. Corporal Low’s devotion to duty is highly commendable and deserving of the highest praise.
