The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Edwin B. Houck (ASN: 35901251), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 65th Armored Infantry Battalion, 20th Armored Division, in action against the enemy on 30 April 1945, at Munich, Germany. While cleaning out snipers, Private First Class Houck heard the cry of a seriously wounded comrade from a cleverly concealed emplacement and firing at the enemy he raced into the emplacement and carried his comrade out. His great courage and daring reflect great credit upon himself and served as an example for all present.
