The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Kenneth T. Kellogg (ASN: 37699009), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 11 April 1945, in the vicinity of Inglefingen, Germany. Private First Class Kellogg’s squad started on a flanking maneuver to eliminate a machine gun that was delivering intense fire on the company. As the squad approached the machine gun position, they were detected and immediately the enemy shifted their fire to them. Private First Class Kellogg, disregarding the danger to himself, dashed forward toward this fire and, firing his automatic rifle from the hip, with such deadly effectiveness, killed one of the enemy and took four more as prisoners. The gallantry in action and devotion to duty displayed by Private First Class Kellogg reflect credit upon himself and are in keeping with the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
