Headquarters, 63d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 577 (August 24, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Charles G. Boudrie (ASN: 36875888), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 20 April 1945, in the vicinity of Sulzdorf, Germany. When the company encountered heavy enemy fire, Sergeant Boudrie, with one squad, moved to outflank two enemy machine gun positions and supporting riflemen. Under heavy fire, he crawled within twenty yards of the first position and with his carbine killed three of the enemy crew. Then, jumping into the enemy position just eliminated, he threw a grenade into the other enemy position, killing one and wounding two of the enemy. With their supporting machine guns destroyed, the remaining enemy riflemen surrendered, enabling the company to continue on their mission. The gallantry and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Boudrie reflect the highest credit upon himself and upon the Armed Forces of the United States.
