The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Donald O. Lamberson (ASN: 35906853), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 2 April 1945, in the vicinity of Tiefenbach, Germany. While the company was engaged in a fierce fire fight, Private First Class Lamberson, member of the weapons platoon, daringly began to crawl forward to silence an enemy machine gun. With little regard for his own safety and under the heavy enemy fire, h crawled to within grenade throwing distance of the enemy position. He then hurled two grenades and after the explosions, rushed the position, firing his carbine. Upon reaching the position he found the machine gun destroyed and eight enemy dead. The outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty displayed by Private First Class Lamberson reflect the highest credit upon himself and upon the Armed Forces of the United States.
