Headquarters, 63d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 543 (August 16, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Ellis A. Trevillion (ASN: 0-558848), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 2d Battalion, 255th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 3 January 1945, in the vicinity of Achen, France. The enemy was blocking part of the town, using two machine guns and rifles. Lieutenant Trevillion took one squad with him on a reconnaissance mission but found they could not move from cover because of the intense enemy fire directed at them. He courageously moved out alone toward the enemy and, firing his carbine at the positions, drew all the enemy fire to himself, enabling the squad to secure good firing positions and to destroy all enemy opposition. In this action Lieutenant Trevillion was killed. His intrepidity throughout the action reflects the highest credit upon himself and is in keeping with the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
