The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Warren R. Neuhoff (ASN: 35850183), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 19 March 1945, in the vicinity of Ensheim, Germany. When his platoon was attacking pillboxes in the Siegfried Line, Private Neuhoff, lead scout, charged one to divert its attention from his platoon. Although wounded as he started forward, he continued his advance in the face of intense fire until he fell dead. Through his sacrifice his platoon was able to maneuver into a position from which it could complete its mission. Private Neuhoff’s outstanding gallantry is in keeping with the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
