The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Robert E. Robinson (ASN: 6731565), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 2d Battalion, 253d Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 9 April 1945, in the vicinity of Stein, Germany. The company attacked north of Stein and came under heavy enemy artillery, mortar and small arms fire which caused casualties and disorder. His platoon halted and began to dig in, but Sergeant Robinson gathered his men and inspired in them the determination to continue. Even after he had received a wound in the foot, he continued to lead his platoon, encouraging his own men and those of other platoons to press on to ultimate victory. The intrepidity and gallantry of Sergeant Robinson were an inspiration to all those under him and reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
