The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class [then Private] Keith Morgan (ASN: 42123333), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company E, 2d Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 8 April 1945, in the vicinity of Sindeldorf, Germany. When Company E, 2d Battalion, 254th Infantry Regiment was halted by intense machine gun fire during its attack through a woods west of Sindeldorf, Private First Class Morgan, disregarding his personal safety, advanced alone through heavy enemy fire to within 30 yards of the enemy and destroyed two machine pistol positions, enabling his company to continue its attack. The gallantry displayed by Private First Class Morgan in this action led to his being fatally wounded. The magnificent courage and outstanding gallantry under fire Private First Class Morgan reflect the highest credit upon himself and are in keeping with the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
