The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Victor H. Blair (ASN: 3524269), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 253d Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 8 April 1945, in the vicinity of Kressbach, Germany. While advancing to its objective, his squad was held up by enemy machine gun fire. Sergeant Blair, although severely wounded, continued to lead his men until they had gained their objective and accomplished their mission. The magnificent courage and outstanding gallantry under fire of Sergeant Blair reflect the highest credit upon himself and are in keeping with the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
