First Lieutenant Walter Keith Parmenter (MCSN: 0-31884), United States Marine Corps, was captured by the Japanese after his FG-1D Corsair was shot down in the Battle for Okinawa on 10 July 1945 and was held as a Prisoner of War until his death in captivity.
