Private Cephas L. Kelly (MCSN: 421693), United States Marine Corps, was captured by the Japanese after his TBF-1 Avenger aircraft was shot down over New Britain on 28 February 1943, and was held as a Prisoner of War until returned to U.S. Military control at the end of the war.
