Coast Guard Lieutenant Jack Rittichier who was attached to the 37th ARRS on this mission, became the only member of the Coast Guard missing in action in the Vietnam War as a result of this mission in which he also was awarded the Silver Star.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Richard C. Yeend, Jr. (AFSN: 3119544), United States Air Force (Reserve), was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against a hostile force during an air mission in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Yeend distinguished himself by intrepid actions while serving with 37th Air Rescue and Recovery Squadron, 7th Air Force. His unquestionable valor in close combat is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 7th Air Force, and the United States Air Force.
